Atorvastatin works by slowing the production of cholesterol in the body to decrease the amount of cholesterol that may build up on the walls of the arteries and block blood flow to the heart, brain, and other parts of the body.
Atorvastatin is used together with diet to lower blood levels of "bad" cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein, or LDL), to increase levels of "good" cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein, or HDL), and to lower triglycerides (a type of fat in the blood).

Side effects:

• Joint pain

• Stuffy nose, sore throat

• Diarrhea

• Pain in your arms or legs



Cautions:

• Hypersensitivity to active ingredients or any other contents.

• Pregnant and breastfeeding.

• Patients with liver disease.

• Foods with high fat and low exercise.



Interactions:

• Other cholesterol-lowering medication

• Antibiotic or antifungal medicine

• Birth control pills

• Medicine to prevent organ transplant rejection

• Heart medication

• Medicine to treat hepatitis C or HIV





Indications:

• High blood cholesterol level, and to lower the risk of stroke, heart attack, or other heart complications in people with type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, or other risk factors
