Duphalac Syrup 300 ml For Constipation

Duphalac syrup contains lactulose.
It is a laxative medicine used to treat constipation, it improves bowel movement.
Lactulose increases the water content in the stool and softens the stool and facilitates its passage by drawing water into the intestines, which helps treat constipation and hard, dry stools.

Points of interest:

• Duphalac syrup tastes very sweet.

• Onset of action 2 – 3 days.



Side effects of Duphalac:

• Flatulence, cramps, and abdominal pain.



Cautions:

• Diabetes, lactose intolerance, or patients requiring a low galactose diet due to galactose component.

• May cause electrolyte disturbances if used > 6 months; hence monitoring is essential.

• Don't use Duphalac syrup in patients with intestinal obstruction.



Interaction of Duphalac syrup:

• Diuretics: increased risk of electrolytes imbalance.

• Ondansetron: can cause an irregular heart rhythm.



Indications:

• Duphalac Syrup used to treat Constipation (in moderate doses).
