Zovirax 5% Cream 10 g
Acyclovir
It is an antiviral drug.
Acyclovir is converted to its triphosphate form, acyclovir triphosphate (ACV-TP), which competitively inhibits viral DNA polymerase, and inactivates the viral DNA polymerase.
It decreases the severity and length of these outbreaks, helps the sores heal faster, keeps new sores from forming, and decreases pain/itching.
In addition, acyclovir can decrease the risk of the virus spreading to other parts of the body and causing serious infections in people with a weakened immune system.
