Everyday Essentials Set

Early alarms, air conditioning all day, sun on the walk home. The stripped-back daily routine: five things used every day. The 473 ml cleanser stays home by the sink; the 50 ml cream, the roll-on and the lip balm travel in the school bag.

What is in the box

• CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser 473 ml, for normal to dry skin — a non-foaming cream wash that removes dirt and oil and leaves three essential ceramides (NP, AP and EOP), hyaluronic acid and glycerin on the skin, released by CeraVe's patented MVE technology, so cleansing does not strip the barrier.
• CeraVe Moisturising Cream 50 ml, for dry to very dry skin — the richer, fragrance-free tube for face and body, with the same three ceramides and sodium hyaluronate released gradually by MVE, restoring the barrier and holding moisture in for up to 24 hours.
• Eau Thermale Avene SPF 50+ Fluid 50 ml — very high protection for sensitive normal to combination skin, in a light fluid that absorbs in seconds to an invisible, non-shiny finish.
• Deon Whitening Roll-On 56 g — an aluminium-free roll-on that holds underarm odour down for up to 48 hours while tranexamic acid works on the look of darkened underarm skin.
• Dermokil Lip Repair + Sunscreen Lip Balm 15 g — an occlusive balm in a squeeze tube, built on shea butter with coconut, argan, olive, sweet almond and jojoba oils and tocopheryl acetate, for very dry, cracked lips.

How to use it

• Step one, cleanse — the CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser twice daily, morning and evening.
• Step two, moisturise — the CeraVe Moisturising Cream liberally as often as needed, typically morning and night, on face and body.
• Step three, underarms — the Deon roll-on once daily on clean, dry underarms.
• Step four, protect — the Avene SPF 50+ Fluid every morning as the last step of the routine, reapplied at least every two hours during sun exposure and after swimming, sweating or towel-drying.
• Lips, any time — the Dermokil balm as often as the lips feel dry.

Good to know

The CeraVe cleanser does not foam, and CeraVe does not call it a makeup remover; it is a cream wash. Both CeraVe pieces run on the same ceramide idea, one to wash with and one to seal with. The Avene fluid is the lightest of the three, so it layers over the richer cream and adds no shine. The Deon roll-on works on odour, not on sweat. The Dermokil balm's two UV filters are both UVB filters, and the brand declares no SPF number, so it is a lip balm containing filters, not a rated lip sunscreen.

Please note

Sunscreen does not give total protection. Avoid the sun in the middle of the day, do not stay long in the sun even while wearing it, avoid contact with the eyes, reapply frequently, especially after swimming, sweating or towelling, and keep babies and young children out of direct sunlight. The Deon roll-on is aluminium-free, which makes it a deodorant and not an antiperspirant: it controls odour but does not stop sweating, and it must not go on broken, irritated, freshly shaved or freshly waxed skin. The Dermokil balm must not be relied on for sun protection. It is for external use only, do not swallow it, and keep it away from direct sunlight and heat and out of reach of children.
