Metformin and Glyburide

Metformin and glyburide used as diabetic treatment to lower blood glucose acutely by stimulating the release of insulin from the pancreas, an effect dependent upon functioning beta cells in the pancreatic islets. The mechanism by which glyburide lowers blood glucose during long-term administration has not been clearly established.

Side effects:

• Hypoglycemia

• Hypersensitivity reactions

• Taste disturbance



Cautions:

• Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients

• Hypoglycemia



Interactions:

• Substances that may enhance the blood-glucose-lowering activity and increase susceptibility to Hypoglycemia.

• Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.

• Disopyramide.

• Fibrates.

• Fluoxetine.

• Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).

• Pentoxifylline.

• Propoxyphene.

• Salicylates & Sulphonamide.



Indications :

• Treatment of adults, adolescents with diabetes mellitus type 2.



How to store:

keep at room temperature.
