Dutasteride
Avodart capsules contain Dutasteride, which helps in the treatment of symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men.
Dutasteride belongs to a class of drugs called 5- Alpha- Reductase Inhibitors, which lowers the production of dihydrotestosterone (hormone) to help shrink the prostate and relieve the symptoms this will reduce the risk of acute urinary retention and the need for surgery.

Avodart side effects:

Avodart may cause:

• Decreased libido.

• Difficulty with ejaculation.

• Decrease in the amount of semen released during sex.

• Breast enlargement.



Warnings and cautions:

• Tell the doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to the active ingredient or any other medications before using Avodart.

• Do not take Avodart if you have severe liver disease.

• Avodart is for men only, Avodart must not be taken by women, children, or adolescents.

• Use a condom during sexual intercourse.



Interactions:

Tell the doctor if you are taking these medications or any other medications before using Avodart:

• Verapamil or diltiazem (for high blood pressure).

• Ritonavir or indinavir (for HIV).

• Itraconazole or ketoconazole (for fungal infections).

• Nefazodone (an antidepressant).

• Alpha- blockers (for enlarged prostate or high blood pressure).
