Clexane injection contain Enoxaparin.
Enoxaparin is an antithrombotic agent; a low molecular weight heparin that exists as a sodium salt, which acts by binding to Anti- Thrombin III leading to inhibition of coagulation, factors IIa and Xa.

Points of interest:

• Tell your doctor immediately if you have any signs of bleeding (nose bleeds, unexpected bruising, dark or bloody feces).



Side effects of Clexane injection:

• Bleeding

• Bruising and pain at the injection site

• Hyperkalemia.



Cautions:

• Used Clexane injection with extreme caution in patients with history of heparin- induced thrombocytopenia with or without thrombosis.

• Injection: should be used with caution in conditions with increased potential for bleeding such as: impaired hemostasis, history of peptic ulcer, recent ischemic stroke, uncontrolled severe arterial hypertension, diabetic retinopathy, recent neurological or ophthalmologic surgery.

• Risk of hyperkalemia appears to increase with duration of therapy but usually reversible; measure Plasma levels.

• Obese patients are at higher risk for thromboembolism.

• Contraindicated in patients with severe uncontrolled hypertension.

• Contraindicated in patients with Acute major bleeding.



Interactions of Clexane:

• Diclofenac: enhance the anticoagulant effect resulting in hemorrhage.

• ACEI or ARBs: increased risk of hyperkalemia when heparin is given concomitantly with an ACEI or ARB.



Indications:

Clexane injection used for:

• Deep-vein thrombosis.

• Pulmonary embolism.

• Acute coronary syndromes: Unstable angina (UA), non-ST-elevation (NSTEMI), and ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).

• Prevention of clotting in extracorporeal circuits.
