Side effects:
• The most common side effect of Uni-Cal is changing in bowel movement (BM) habits.
This generally occurs during the first weeks of treatment; however, it may continue throughout the use of orlistat.
• Oily spotting on underwear or clothing.
• Loose stools.
• Pain or discomfort in the rectum.
• Stomach pain.
• Irregular menstrual periods.
• Headache.
• Anxiety.
Warnings and cautions:
• You should follow a diet and a program of regular physical activity or exercise while you are taking orlistat.
• You should take a daily multivitamin containing vitamins A, D, E, K, and beta-carotene as Orlistat blocks the body's absorption of fat-soluble vitamins and beta carotene.
• Tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to orlistat or any other medications.
• Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Interactions:
Tell the doctor if you are taking these medications or any other medications:
• Cyclosporine.
• Levothyroxine.
• Blood thinner - Warfarin, Coumadin, Jantoven.
• Medications for diabetes include glipizide, glyburide, metformin, and insulin.

Take 1 capsule three times a day with each main meal containing fat or as the doctor prescribed.
The dose may be taken during the meal or within one hour after completion.
