Dapagliflozin and Metformin HCl extended-release Tabs
• Xigduo XR belongs to a class of drugs called Antidiabetics, Biguanides; Antidiabetics, SGLT2 Inhibitors.
• Xigduo XR tablets are used to control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes, as it reduces blood sugar levels resulting in:
The pancreas does not produce enough insulin or the body does not use insulin properly.
• Thus, it prevents kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, and loss of limbs. It also reduces the risk of heart attack or stroke

Benefits:

- Xigduo XR is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

- Dapagliflozin is indicated to reduce the risk of hospitalization for heart failure in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus and established cardiovascular disease (CVD) or multiple cardiovascular risk factors.



Side Effects:

- Hypotension.

- Acute Kidney Injury.

- Urosepsis and Pyelonephritis.

- Necrotizing Fasciitis of the Perineum (Fournier's Gangrene).

- Genital Mycotic Infections.



Contraindications:

Xigduo XR is contraindicated in patients with:

- Severe renal impairment.

- History of a serious hypersensitivity reaction to dapagliflozin or hypersensitivity to metformin hydrochloride.

- Acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis, with or without coma. Diabetic ketoacidosis should be treated with insulin.



Cautions:

- Before initiating XIGDUO XR, obtain an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR).
