Doxazosin

Doxazosin is an alpha-adrenergic blocker. It relaxes veins and arteries so that blood can more easily pass through them. It also relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate.
Doxazosin is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), or to improve urination in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate).

Indications:
• Hypertension
• Benign prostatic hyperplasia

How to store:
keep at room temperature.

Side effects:

• Respiratory tract infection

•Urinary tract infection

•Cough dizziness, headache



Cautions:

• Hypersensitivity to doxazosin, quinazolines or to any of the excipients.

• History of orthostatic hypotension.

• Benign prostatic hyperplasia and concomitant congestion of the upper urinary tract, chronic urinary tract infection or bladder stones.

• History of gastro-intestinal obstruction, oesophageal obstruction, or any degree of decreased lumen diameter of the gastro-intestinal tract.

• Heart disease (such as congestive heart failure, angina, heart attack in last 6 months), liver disease, certain eye problems (cataracts, glaucoma).

• This drug may make you dizzy or drowsy.



Interactions:

• prazosin, tamsulosin

• sildenafil, tadalafil
