Atorvastatin: works by slowing the production of cholesterol in the body to decrease the amount of cholesterol that may build up on the walls of the arteries and block blood flow to the heart, brain, and other parts of the body.
Atorvastatin is used together with diet to lower blood levels of "bad" cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein, or LDL), to increase levels of "good" cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein, or HDL), and to lower triglycerides (a type of fat in the blood).

Side effects:

• Serious illness with severe peeling and swelling of the skin

• Muscle weakness



Cautions:

• Hypersensitivity to atorvastatin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine

• Liver and kidney disease

• contraception drugs

• pregnant or trying to become pregnant

• Breastfeeding

• severe respiratory failure

• previous stroke with bleeding into the brain



Interactions:

•Glecaprevir/pibrentasvir

•Immune drugs

•antibiotics or antifungal medicines

•Other medicines to regulate lipid levels

•Some calcium channel blockers used for angina or high blood pressure







Indications:

• High blood cholesterol level, and to lower the risk of stroke, heart attack, or other heart complications in people with type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, or other risk factors
